Northeast Classic – Friday, January 16th and Saturday, January 17th
First, please forgive me if this does not apply to your family. You can ignore this email.
We have a lot to communicate, and I want to make sure everyone has the information they need if your kid is going to NE Classic. (Note: Not every swimmer is going, and if you are wondering if your swimmer is going or not, they would have received paperwork to fill out from Coach Jordan. If you don’t have the paperwork, your kid is not going.)
Friday’s practice will be at the regular time, but will probably end around 4:30 and then the bus will leave from the rec center to head to NE Classic around 5 for those participating in NE Classic (you should know who you are).
You need to bring your luggage to the rec center, or have it delivered there while at practice because you will need to get directly on the bus. The bus will head to North Canton, to the Embassy Suites where the kids will have dinner and spend the night.
IMPORTANT: You don’t get to get on the bus, and go to the away meet, without PAPERWORK. All kids who are participating in the NE Classic were sent home with paperwork last week. This is not your normal paperwork, there are two of the forms that has to be NOTARIZED. So, fill it out early and get these back in please. Where do the forms go? The field trip form goes to school to the main office. The other forms go to Coach Jordan. If you don’t have the forms, there are links to them down below.
Parents: If you are going to the NE Classic, tickets can be purchased here for prelims and finals. The links are live and you can purchase all the tickets you need now. Make sure you select McKinley High School and note that there are two different links, one for prelims and one for finals. Athlete Doors open at 6:15am
Warm-ups at 6:30am
Spectator Doors open at 7:00am
Meet starts at 8:30am
Finals:
Warm-ups at 4:00pm
Spectator Doors open at 4:30pm (this is a guess, it’s not listed)
Meet starts at 5:30pm
We will try to sit together as a team in the stands, but you really need to get there, because they do not allow us to save seats (we try). There are limits to what you can take in, even your stadium seat, if you are bringing one has to be 17inches or less (and yes, they will measure it) so make sure you look at the list of what can and cannot be brought in (basically, just don’t bring anything).
If you want to find us, we will probably show up a bit earlier before the doors will open (probably closer to 6am) although I was told for this meet we don’t have to wait in line as much, better safe than sorry. If you come after 6, but before 7am when the doors open, find us in line. When we wait in line at these meets we are waiting for the whole team, so you aren’t cutting in line, you are joining your team.
If you aren’t there early, but you are looking for us, we will attempt to sit where we have sat at States and other meets in this pool, which is: go in the front doors, take an immediate left and head up the stairs to the first place you can exit into the pool. Walk through the door and immediately turn to your right and walk up those stairs. You should see us, we usually sit in the top rows of this area if we can.
What to do between prelims and finals?
The kids will be heading to Panera at 6543 Strip Ave NW, North Canton, OH 44720 for lunch and then will be going back to the Embassy Suites where we have rented a hotel meeting room for them to rest. If you can, if you have blow up mattresses, bring those, and we set them up in the room for the kids to take naps/relax before they head back to the pool.
